Hey all my Greedy Girl Fans. I know I took a little extended holiday break, but don’t worry I have not abandoned the ship. So many exciting things are happening including a very big one.
*drum Rollllll* The Greedy Girl is getting MARRIED!!!!
Yup, we got engaged on Christmas; I’m very excited and now have even more reason why we need to work on our inner Greedy Girl this year.
So I know you’ve are ready kicked off those New Years resolutions, and by now going into the 2nd week of January a little bit of struggle may have kicked in.
We’ll I figured I would share this great blog I found to help inspire you to stick with it.
We’ve all heard the saying it takes 21 Days to form a habit, we’ll the author of twentyonedayhabit.blogspot.com did just that. Her goal was to make a habit of running so she started with her goal one day at a time and now over 1000 days late running in her words has become an addiction. So take a look read her story get inspired and jump back on that resolution bandwagon.

With just a few short weeks till the New Year I’m sure you’ve said more than once “January 1 I’m going to hit the gym, or my new diet start 2010” You’ve started making those resolutions and checking them twice
Well why wait? Why do we always set a date to begin living a better life when that date can be now? You can even start gradually so by your magic date you’re already there.Well here are my few reasons why you should stop waiting and start your get fit/ new diet resolution today
- You have 2 weeks to get re-acquainted with the gym before all of the other January 1st people come.
- You still have time to catch the great Christmas sales on workout equipment
- If you start watching what you eat now, you’ll have less to make from that big Christmas Dinner that you would normally eat
- If you’re taking time off for the holidays you can get in a few extra long workouts while you’re free
- It’s not to late to ask that special someone to get you a gym membership or personal trainer for Christmas
- You’ll look and feel better in the New Years dress, if you start toning up now.
- It’ll be easier to sneak in a few crunches and squats while the kids are busy watching all of the Christmas specials or playing with their new toys.
- That extra burst of energy you get from a good workout will help you get through the last minute shopping and gift wrapping.

In honor of my favorite show’s (Grey’s Anatomy) 2 hour season premier on Thursday my Inner Fat Couch Potato (IFCP) decided to make her fall appearance and boy it was quite a show.
First let me tell you who my IFCP is. My Inner Fat Couch Potato is the little something in me that would rather watch reality TV than take a walk, would rather eat chocolate cake than carrot sticks, and who is afraid of all things diet and fit. LOL, sounds familiar everyone has an inner Fat Couch Potato. My IFCP is my number one reason for increased weight gain in the fall and winter seasons.
And like all things my Inner Fat Couch Potatoes has a season, and a mine is Fall. After an active summer of longer days, weekend excursions, outdoor sports and play; my inner Fat Couch Potato can’t wait for the season premiers of all my favorite shows when I’ll be glued to television not move much more than my finger to click the remote.
Thursday during an amazing Grey’s Anatomy Premier my inner Fat Couch Potato made her premier too. It was horrible during the course of a 2 hour show I ate dinner (not bad, baked chicken and rice), 2 glasses of wine, hummus and pita chips, there was nothing sweet in the house so I had a bowl of cereal, a 100 cal snicker, and then I topped it off with 2 Lindt chocolate truffles. My only saving grace here is that I cut down the amount of junk food I keep in the house, but even 5 “healthy items in 2 hours time is still horrible. By he time the 11:00 News came on I felt like a horrible glutton and to top it off it was time for bed so then I didn’t even do much to work it all off.
If I keep this up this will be me by Sweeps Week:

So, after such an explosive IFCP season premier I decided to put together a list of things that I can do to combat my Inner Fat Couch Potato so she won’t ruin my waist line while I’m enjoying my shows.
- I’m going to work out before the show. No more waiting by for the 9pm show to start I’m committing to get in at least 30mins before any night with the Tube and note this is in addition to my normal workouts.
- Get off the couch and sit on my balance ball. Just sitting on your balance ball engages you core, so sitting on he ball while you enjoy your shows gives you a much better benefit than sitting on the Couch.
- Rid the house of snacks. I’ve already done a good job of this as you can tell from Thursday but I need to keep up the good work and don’t turn to things like cereal when there is nothing better to eat.
- Last walk or run in front of the tube. It’s OK to watch television while working out especially if the alternative is sitting on the couch. You should still dedicate some TV-less workout time when you can fully concentrate and focus on your workout. But, to burn a few extra calories try walking in place during the show and maybe grabbing you hand weights during commercials.
Greedy Girls’ Fans that’s my plan for fighting back my Inner Fat Couch Potato, wish me luck. Preparation is key, so take a moment to devise your own plan and let us know how you deal with yours

Happy New Year of Me. Lets Celebrate with a Workout Room Makeover
Filed under Fitness, Motivation3 CommentsSep 2Today’s my birthday, so it’s a new year of me. This birthday is going to be all about improving and doing better for me.
First, like I’ve done on New Year of the world 01/01, I’ve made a few resolutions to improve me a work towards that healthy living goal. Not too many because I’ll need more in 3 months, but this is a good starting place and with any luck I’ll have new ones by then because these will be accomplished.
So here they are:
- I’m going to work out at least 4-5 times a week
- I’m not going to eat after 9pm
- I’m going to pack a healthy lunch at least 2-3 times a week
- 4. I’m going to finally fix up my work out room.
- I’m going to use it, LOL
Resolutions 4 &5 lead me to the other half of my birthday list, THE WORKOUT ROOM. When I purchased this house 2 years go one of my big selling points was it has a finished attic with a great space that I could use for a workout room. Well it’s now 2 years later and that space has become nothing but storage. I have an elliptical (which I hate) and for my birthday I’m purchasing a treadmill. And of course I have ever other smaller home equipment known to man: hand weights, exercise ball, bands, mats, jump ropes you name it. So my goal is to take all of that and spruce up this room a bit so it can be am inviting work out place where I can come and really sweat it out.
Here are some before pictures:

Unfortunately, I don’t have any place to put the furniture but it can be moved around, and the drawers are empty so I can use them for storage. I like the red so I think I’m keeping the color. But I need some ideas on other thing I can do to spruce it up: pictures, mirrors, hooks for exercise equipment, etc.
Greedy Girls’ Fans what do you think, any suggestion on how to make over my workout room? Your help would really make my birthday great.
